Notre Dame vs. Navy

the 29th of August 2020

Tentative Itinerary

August 24            Transfer from Delaware to Newark Int’l Airport and fly to Ireland

August 25            Morning arrival at Dublin Airport. We meet our driver/guide and depart. Travel the short journey north via Dundalk and Downpatrick to coffee/tea stop at the St. Patrick’s Centre. Opportunity to visit the gravesite of St. Patrick. From here, we continue north to Belfast. Check in at our hotel with free time to relax. Dinner at the hotel. Your evening is free to explore the city on your own before a relaxing overnight stay in Belfast. (D)

August 26            Today, we enjoy a scenic tour of the Antrim Coast and visit Giants Causeway and Museum. Marvel at the volcanic columns formed over 60 million years ago and hear the ancient fables of the Causeway. We return to Belfast where we visit Titanic Belfast. Extending over nine galleries, this multi-dimension exhibit draws together special effects, full-scale reconstructions, and innovative interactive features to explore the Titanic story in a fresh and insightful way. Learn of her conception in Belfast in the early 1900’s, through her construction and launch, to her infamous maiden voyage and catastrophic demise. Return to our hotel where our evening is free to experience more of Belfast. Enjoy your overnight stay. (B)

August 27            This morning, we depart Belfast and travel west via Dungiven and the Sperrin Mountains to Derry City. Enjoy a panoramic city tour of Derry, including free time to explore independently. Departing Derry, we travel via Bridgend to Glenveagh for a visit to Glenveagh Castle & Gardens in the National Park. Continue on to our nearby Donegal hotel for dinner and overnight. (B,D)

August 28            We’re still working on touring for this day.

August 29            NOTRE DAME vs NAVY!  Today, we see the game! Tonight, we’re on our own. We’ll come up with some activities closer to the date.

We’ll spend a bit to time in the 360 degree bar on the seventh floor too! We also have a planned visit to the new EPIC Museum—The Irish Emigration Museum. Please Note:

  • The itinerary is a work in progress. We’ve asked our tour operator, Celtic Tours, for visits to Derry and Donegal. This may change the pricing.

  •  This trip is very different in terms of deposits and payments from other trips. The hotels in Ireland have set very stringent deposit, reduction (of rooms when names and passport info isn’t given with the reservation) and cancellation policies. Celtic Tours has no control over what the hotels are requiring. Pricing and timing is driven by the demand for the game.

  •  Due to this overwhelming demand, we are working under a time constraint and apologize for the quick turnaround we need from you.

  •  Game tickets prices are not included in the price above. Celtic Tours will purchase the tickets as soon as theses are available (possibly late January). If you don’t want to attend the game, please let Anita O’D. know so you’re not billed for a ticket.

  •  Airfare is not included in the price above, as the airlines don’t announce schedules and pricing until 11 months before the trip. As soon as prices are available, we’ll send you this information.

This trip is sponsored by the Irish Culture Club of Delaware. We are asking for all attendees to be current members at the time of the trip, as we are being given discounts on pricing.

The trip is being coordinated by ICCD member and travel advisor Anita O’Donnell. If you’d like to register for this trip, email Anita O’Donnell at anita.odonnell@cruiseplanners.com  or call Anita at 302-607-8216.
